Have you ever heard of Bhalughat? Well, I was not aware of Bhalughat!! Its a hidden gem- a waterfalls near Mukteshwar. When I visited Parvada Bungalows just a week back, I learnt from the authorities about this falls. They had arranged a trip to Bhalughat for us. Both me and my friend- Meenakshi J Iyer were very excited to visit.
This one being unheard by me, I was even more curious specially by the name. It had this name because bears used to come down to this falls for drinking water. It was raining that day when we reached the entrance of falls.
We learnt that there was a trekking for some time. I was a bit skeptical to trek during rain but was also curious and eager to reach the falls as I just love waterfalls. I would slowly and steadily put my foot down on the rocks while ensuring that my foot doesn’t slip , it being rainy and muddy. The path was beautiful and laden with lovely flowers all around.
We also we had to cross a river three times on foot in between mountains. I was curious to reach those points. Was loving the freshness in the area. When it rains, sometimes, river water rises and it becomes risky to cross them. But, we were all positive and had decided if the water level is high, we will not cross the river and will come back. Thankfully, the rain stopped and the water level was almost ground level that even our shoes did not get wet. I was happy to cross the little waters of river. All views were lovely.
This was after a long long time that I crossed the river by foot. In between the mountains, water flowing , greenery and the most important safety, all things were well in place.
One of the hotel staff from Parvada Bungalows – Naagmal had accompanied us. Naagmal ensured we felt safe and secure. He took care of our stuff and kept putting big stones on the river bed when we had to cross the river.
Soon we saw beautiful waterfalls- Bhalughat. It was a lovely scene. Water looked green. It was a mysterious falls as the water was vanishing after creating a pool kind of area. Later I learnt that we should not go directly below the falls as the falls is very deep and mishap can occur. We should stand by the side only to enjoy the view of falls.
I kept gazing at the falls for long while sitting on big stones. The area was lush green and due to rains, there was nobody except three of us. There was only natural sound of waterfalls and birds. It felt like a movie scene or heaven. I was thoroughly enjoying the moment.
We took some photos. While we were about to return, we saw few tourists walking down.
There was also a construction going for bridges over river. We came to know from local workers there that the falls is really famous and there is a lot of crowd during peak season. All tourists – domestic or International, all of them come down to the falls .
Highly recommended !
