When I learnt that Brsnd USA is organizing an event of Discover America, I had my plans set to attend the event. Event being held in Le Meridien, Delhi had major delegates from tourism destinations of USA. Delegates had come from tourism offices of Beverly Hills, California, Florida, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, NYC, Philadelphia, Oregon, Orlando and San Francisco. I was fortunate enough to interact with most of them.
When I interacted with the delegate of NYC-Mr. Christopher Heywood- Senior Vice President, Global Communications, NYC & Company, I realized that it is possible to travel to the Big Apple, the most premium city of the world and save money too!
NYC embraces its visitors with world cuisine, cultural Broadway programs, performances, festivals, shows and many more. This time New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, recommends travellers low-cost attractions, hotels, museums, competitions like free ferry ride to Staten Island, nominal fees to select museums, entry to Central Park and many more. There is a “Free in NYC” guide, nycgo.com/free, that mentions of select enormous things to do for free in NYC like entertainment for kids, Broadway shows, museums , events and many more.
In my interaction with Chris, he mentioned that the time when you can save on money on stays is from November to January. Also, there are many options available throughout the year.
Insider tips of how to make the best use of money when in NYC
a.)Consider planning trips to NYC at certain times of year and certain days of the week when
hotels offer lower hotel rates for those looking to save. Visitors staying during a US public holiday (for example Memorial Day, May 25; Independence Day, July 4; Labor Day, September 7; etc.), or on a Sunday night, can expect lower prices, as these are times when business travel typically slows down. NYC & Company’s Sunday Night Stays program offers discounted prices at New York City hotels, theaters and restaurants for visitors choosing to stay through the end of the weekend. b.)Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, Botanical Garden Train’s show in Bronx, Historic Richmond Town’s Candlelight Tours in Staten Island, Wave Hill’s Holiday Workshop Weekend in the Bronx, the New York Hall of Science’s Gingerbread Lane in Queens and the Annual Menorah Lighting outside Brooklyn Borough Hall are worth seeing! c.)The holiday season in New York City comes to a close with New Year’s Eve in Times Square. The annual ball drop attracts a million people each year to the Crossroads of the World, filled with tons of confetti, celebrity performances and an unforgettable countdown to the New Year. d.) Chris said NYC offers stays starting service to luxurious properties to suit all pockets. Area around Manhattan—the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island—offer low rates. You get to experience new neighborhoods while saving money and exploring more since traveling is not a problem in NYC due to availability of trains , buses, taxis and subways. For travellers considering economical trip a summer visit to New York City offers a plentitude
of parks, beaches and recreational activities open to the public at little to no cost. New York City’s beaches will officially open Memorial Day Weekend throughout the five boroughs, as will Governor’s Island, a 172-acre island in the New York Harbor that is home to parks, public art and a Hammock Grove, all with 360-degree views of the Statue of Liberty, New York Harbor and Lower Manhattan. The City’s outdoor public pools, which are free, will be open from June 26 through Labor Day. Other low-cost outdoor activities include Staten Island’s Greenbelt, where visitors can hike, cycle, go fishing and more, or Jamaica Bay, an expanse of beaches, wetlands and wildlife trails in southeast Brooklyn and Queens. And, nearby in the Rockaways, visitors can “hang ten” at the City’s two legal surfing beaches.
