When I was a school student, I learnt that Greenland has continuous 4 months of daylight and continuous night for few months. How the population lives there and how is their lifestyle! These thoughts keep me wondering. Apart from these there are more strikingly fascinating facts of Greenland that lure me towards it. I wish to visit Greenland some time sooner! Northern lights– A greenish , bluish, redish, whitish flowing light in the sky that happens when the sun is fully set at night and the sky is clear. Northern lights also known as Aurora Borealis is a natural light display that happens in southern and Northern poles of earth from September till beginning of April. This happens when particles coming charged from Sun collide with particles in Earth’s atmosphere. This phenomena happens about at the height of 100kms . Its said that these lights are there throughout the year but become invisible in presence of sun. This is generally observed from 9.30 pm to 1am. Some even witness between 4pm tho 6am once darkness falls.

Midnight Sun– The sun never sets from end of May until end of July. The warm rays of sun keep giving variant hues around the snowy area. Month of July is the only month where the temperature goes above freezing point. These are summers in Greenland. Greenland is 85% covered with ice and snow.
No sun months or the winter time is the one when sun doesn’t rise at all. Locals enjoy lights from Aurora Borealis, other hues, moon light and artificial light. Snow covered areas and ice bergs reflect natural lights and the whole atmosphere gives a different feeling altogether.
World’s fastest moving Glacier Jakobshavn Isbrae at 40 meters per day is in Greenland. The type of glacier is ice stream (source Antarticglaciers.org). Ice Stream is a fast moving ice of an ice sheet which moves faster than the surrounding ice.
No roads from city to city– People traverse from town to town either by air or by boats. During winter time, most of people also use dog sleds.
I so wish to see this country. Its like a dreamland for me. Money spent on such as wonderful trip would be totally worth it. Given a chance, I would simply reach Greenland to see all these wonders of nature. Money spent on such as wonderful trip would be worth it.Apart from these wonders, there are so many things to do in Greenland such as Heli skiing, hiking, diving, cruises and more.
