We all travel either by train, by air, by sea and by car. While all means of transport have got their own charms but drive on the road has its unique characteristic of its own. We can always not choose to drive depending join our personal situation or even whether conditions. However, whenever we plan to drive , to ensure we have a safe and happy journey, we should take care of some important things. Although I wrote an article earlier on highway driving but that was more oriented towards healthy and safe driving. 1. Always start early in the morning. Preferably not before that as most of the crimes happen in odd hours. 4am is good as you get to avoid traffic and also there is enough traffic on the road so chances of mishaps are less
2. Never open the window till its day light because you never know who can suddenly take advantage of it
3. Strictly inform kids to not put hands outside of the window. Explain to them the consequences of the same. Kids do understand the logic rather than impositions
4.Even if someone tries to stop you , do not listen. Instead focus on the road unless or until the person seems genuine. These days genuine seeming cases too are risky
5. If you are being stalked by some vehicle, ensure to stay on the main road and inform the local police immediately. This way, the stalker would have less chance to attack you being in public.
6. In case of an emergency, if somehow the door doesn’t unlock, break open the window with the help of rods of head rest. The glass can be easily broken by them.
7. Carry enough eatables and water along to save yourself in case of unavailability of same outside. Ensure to reach your destination by a specific time as per the location
8. Carry important emergency numbers with you and keep them handy. Also, carry your identity cards
9. Ensure your car wipers, tyres and stepany, coolant, breaks, gears, oil tank and lights are in order. Never take wrong side on highways and remain within your speed limits.
10. Pre educate yourself of the route to be taken rather than stopping the car on the highway to ask. Best to use GPS.
