As a part of our travel plans, we had two days stay at Hotel Country Villa in Nagarkot. Nagarkot is a village , located 32 kms east of Kathmandu, Nepal in Bhaktapur district in Bagmati Zone. It is approx 28 kms from Kathmandu International airport.
At a height of 2195 meters , it is considered one of the most scenic spots and a famous hill station in Nepal , renowned for its spectacular sunrise and sunset views.
We could not afford to miss out on Nagarkot. We started off from our hotel in Pokhara in the morning by 8 AM so that we don’t miss out on sunset in Nagarkot.
Hotel Country Villa truly boasted of outstanding views of sunrise from the room itself. We checked into our hotel and convinced the manager to give us a room with good view on second floor (Higher the floor, better the view).
Hotel Country Villa is a 3 star property located atop a hillock in Nagarkot. Most of the hotels do not have lifts , still revellers who are staying should go in for a room on a higher floor for a good view.
Ambience
The speciality of the hotel is that all the rooms are east facing, so that one can view the sunrise from the room itself. At the entrance reception had a a seating arrangement for residents who wanted to use Wi-Fi. Down the reception was restaurant with closed and open area. Star attraction was the panaromic view of himalyas greeting us on one hand and valley welcoming us on the other.
Travellers were enjoying the cool breeze and were lazing around. The rooms were above the restaurant. Our room was not very big but , we liked the ambience because it was cozy and had all the amenities. Kids liked the ambience of the hotel which was warm and comfortable and we could see multiple mountain ranges from our balcony itself.
Restaurant had a nice ambience too with bar and buffet table on one end and tables on other.
Our Experience at Hotel Country Villa
After checking in we headed for the sunset point in the western side of the town. The setting sun created orange hues over the clouds , and all of us sat quietly to see this sheer beautiful moment by God’s grace. We came back after blissful viewing. We enjoyed dinner in open dining area facing the valley and kids were playing around. The manager and staff of the hotel were good and as it started getting cold in the open air resturant , they requested us to have dinner at the resturent in closed area. The food was good and service was prompt.
Since we had to see the sunrise the very next morning , we all slept early.
In the morning we planned to see heavenly sunrise from our room only. We had our own private viewpoint and this was the most comfortable part of the experience. We sat quietly in our balcony , all covered up with blankets and waited for the sunrise. As orange sun rose up from the clouds bang opposite us , we could see it’s rays reflecting from the mountain peaks. The peaks started glowing as we could see the sun fully in its rounded form. It was a spectacular view and certainly a memorable one. All of us were mesmerized by glowing peaks. Groups of people on other rooftops had gathered clicking pictures. The place became lively.
After some time , my Husband pointed out towards a photoshoot going on little away from our hotel, in the backdrop of sunrise. That was again a new experience for me.
Just to have a glimpse at one of the most memorable sunrise from my room was indeed fulfilling for me as a travel enthusiast.
