I was thrilled at the thought of going through underwater sub scooter. It was really fascinating. Not knowing swimming, I was a bit afraid but yet was re assuring myself due to trustworthy authorities in Blue – Safari.

In a sub scooter drive, the scooter has a cabin with oxygen cylinder fitted. Water covers you till neck when the sub scooter is immersed in water in sea. Cylinder provides continuous oxygen for us to be able to breathe normally. We are made to wear life jackets and special shoes.

My experience of Underwater Sub Scooter

Before we boarded our sub scooters they were being washed and sanitized by staff. Seats, windows and everything was being closely checked by staff. All life jackets and shoes were put in a drum containing water so they get washed and sanitized.

I was quiet impressed by these procedures. Now it was our turn. We all were told to move to the deck where all four scooters were parked.

After the return of previous batch and cleanliness procedures, it was our turn for the adventure. So, we got on our sub scooters with full enthusiasm. Our cabin was closed by staff and I was excited at the same time scared. Soon the oxygen made us comfortable. The deck was going down. All four scooters were on the deck. As we got submerged totally, I was transported to a different world altogether. Ofcourse, it was sea all around but my mind was relaxed, rejuvinated and exhilarated. I saw fishes around me, corals, underwater plants. Most if them were zebra fishes and there was one beautiful turquoise blue shining fish. Very different from others. There were corals around. Our scooter was guided by staff. One guide was taking photographs through go pro. He was giving bait to fishes and loads if fishes came around us. I was enjoying every moment of the experience. Guide handed over the bait to us and we also started feeding fishes. I could feel fishes mouth on my hands. It was an eccentric feeling. 

Overall, it was a fantastic experience and a never to miss one of you are in Mauritius.

Helpful tips for Underwater Sub Scooter

1. You don’t need to know swimming to do under waster Sub scooter drive

2. Every underwater sub scooter is tied to the mother boat, so you are safe in any case

3. One must understand and strictly follow instructions from guides

4. Since the water reaches till neck, one can easily wear lenses or spectacles. One should change to either swim wear or cotton slacks and shirt so that water keeps getting out of clothe’s pores.

5. There is a provision to keep locker keys in the sub scooter

6. Last but not the least, do not forget to see Martine life, plants, corals, fishes and enjoy this life time experience.
