Pokhara is an international tourist destination with views of whole Annapurna range of Himalyas, especially Mount Machhapuchchhre – The “Fish-Tail” Mountain. On a clear day, one can actually see reflection of these ranges in Feva lake.
Most of the hotels provide breathtaking views of the Feva lake and mountain ranges from the roof top itself. The Mount Machhapuchchhre is about 25 kms from north of Pokhara.
Fish Tail’s steep pointed profile makes it striking, although it is at the height of 6,993 m. Due to its double summit resembling the tail of a fish, its name is Fish Tail.
The fishtail mountain gives a truly majestic appearance and as the sun rises , it creates various hues and colours which turn on the applause from a patient audience.
Machhapuchchhre has never been climbed to its summit, being sacred to God Shiva! So, is closed to climbing.
Our hotel Landmark had a clear view of this peak. We were lucky enough to see this holy peak throughout our stay in Pokhara.
My husband got up very early to see the sunrise from our hotel’s roof top. It was a spectacular view. Mount Machhapuchchhre looks like an Emperor of Pokhara taking care of everyone overlooking it. It also appeared sometimes that the top peak was inviting us to admire it.
Very memorable experience. But we wanted to cover everything related to sunrise and Machhapuchchhre.
One day we specially visited Sarangkot to see this God’s creation during Golden hour of sunrise. It was a feast to our eyes. What a sight it was to see the sun rays kissing these peaks. It was as if Mount. Fish Tail was wishing sun a very Good Morning. Thank God, we had a clear view.
When we reached, it was quiet dark.
As the darkness merged with light, we were able to see different shades of holy Machhapuchchhre. Sun rays first touched smaller peaks which then became golden. It was a beautiful mesmerizing view. I did not want to miss a single second of this moment for I waited for it since long.
Such a bliss! I was simply amazed at the view. There was a loud noise of ‘WOW’ in the air. Everyone was looking at the divine sun and its rays on peaks turning them Golden Orange. An unforgettable moment!
