What I saw in Western group Temples Khajuraho!

Since my schooling days, I had read about Khajuraho temples. There have been ample T.V. shows focussing on Khajuraho temples. I had been always wanting to visit Khajuraho at least once in my life but it being in plains and having on inclination towards plains , never went to see Khajuraho. But in December when I learnt about IRCTC FAM trip to Varanasi, Khajuraho and Agra, I was happy and immediately said a big YES to the FAM trip.

Western group temples Khajuraho are one of the World Heritage Sites and draws a lot of visitors per month. At the entrance sprawling lawns welcomed us.

First we heard story from the guide about the history of Khajuraho Temples. It was interesting to know that to increase the population of the town, such different and unique statues were made on the outer walls of these temples to spread the message. Yet another interesting fact was to understand that Tantrik people in historical times wanted to achieve salvation via certain methods.Point to note is that there are no such statues inside temples.

Whatever the past be but the fact is that these types of temples in Eestern group temples Khajuraho are unique and only in India, making Khajuraho as one of the most frequented destinations of the world.

All temples in Khajuraho are damaged hence they are deserted monuments. Reason being as per Hindu religion, a broken statue is not worshipped. So, people simply visit as a site and not for worship. But, one has to remove shoes to go inside a Temple.

Each and every temple in Western group temples Khajuraho is a masterpiece in itself. All temples are made of a certain material. On all outer walls of temples, statues of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi are there. At certain sections of walls, few scenes are depicted at other areas some different scenes are depicted that are said to be used to achieve salvation.

All walls are beautifully and intricately carved. Each temple is distinct in its own way and has a magnetic aura towards it. There are 25 temples in this complex.

Overall, a great experience. Highly recommended site Western group temples Khajuraho.
