Located at one of the most popular hang-out destinations of the capital of PVR Priya Complex, Vasant Vihar, Barrels positions itself as India’s first ‘Thematic’ pub. We got to visit this restaurant for review.
How to reach
It is better to enter at the PVR Priya Complex and you will find a big standby indicating the way to Barrels. Do not go searching for community center as it will lead you through a dingy way.
A standy at the PVR Priya Complex directs for the restaurant. A little way further from PVR Priya complex, this restaurant has an attendant at the Ground floor.
Ambience
As we climbed up the stairs, the walls leading to the restaurant Barrels already started speaking about it. I was certain that our dine out destination would be happening. Graffiti art was depicting the environment of the restaurant. The door was royal.
At the door, as we stepped in, different wall design with bricks intentionally peeping out of the wall to create a different feel for the restaurant welcomed us. The restaurant was dimly lit.
Walls had Graffiti art with few murals. Ambience was a melange of colours, music, art, and lighting. Barrels actually provided a very classy, English vibe. I was reminded of restaurants in New York with dim lights but happening walls of colors and sculptures. There was also musical instruments placed in the front of a big TV screen. All the walls were busy telling a series of thoughts. There was a bar as well.
It took us some time to get our minds away from the ambience and we settled down to have food.
Food
We ordered Cigar rolls , Cheese potato balls, crispy corn potatoes with club sandwiches in vegetarian. Cigar rolls were innovative and had vegetable stuffings in it. Cheese potato balls were a great combination of cheese and potato. It was bland and yummy. Club sandwich was also delicious. Crispy corn potatoes were delicious with perfect blend of spices and ingredients. It had a crunchy bite owing to crispy corns.
In non vegetarian we ordered Peri Peri Chicken Skrewers, chilly chicken, mutton seek kebab and chicken tikka. I loved Peri Peri Chicken skewers. It was very soft and juicy. It just melted in my mouth. Mutton seek kebab had a special presentation with a tomato lamp which was highly attractive. I loved the concept of presentation. Chicken tikka was also good. Peri Peri chicken and mutton seek kebab were my favourites.
In desserts we had hot chocolate brownie which was a good finale to the meal. Brownie had toppings of nuts, so people who have a taste for nuts on cakes would relish it.
Drinks
Menu had wide variety of drinks. It had enticing names and had reasons to those names. We had anti aging and RBC mocktails and just loved them. Towards the later part we also had fresh lime soda. This drink was perfect for my tummy. It was a blissful drink.
Service
Impeccable service from perfectly trained courteous staff. They were quick and pre emptied our needs. We were impressed by the service.
Overall, all those people who want to just get cut off and enter a different world along with dim lights this is a perfect hangout.
