We had heard a lot that from Darjeeling to Gangtok, it take 5-6 hours and the route on the way to Gangtol of course is very beautiful along the river Teesta. Indeed it was true. To be on the safer side, we left Darjeeling around 1pm after visiting the zoo and Indian Mountaineering Institute. Soon, we were out of beautiful pine trees of Darjeeling.
Beautiful trees
While we exited Darjeeling, we saw tea plantations on the way. Since we had limited time in Darjeeling and hence could not visit any tea gardens, we stopped at that point to enjoy. Cold breeze was blowing and we were all covered with jackets, caps etc.
Tea plantations
Soon we were on the highway to Sikkim and it was a mesmerizing view with we following river Teesta all over. Its water was greenish blue flowing between mountains and dried trees, it being February creating a beautiful scenery.
There was a ‘Lovers Meet View Point’ on the way.
Lover’s meet point
Once you get to the point, you will see the nature’s beauty. River Teesta view is hypnotizing from there. One can just stand and stare at the view for hours. Although there are only two-three small vendors selling snacks, but the place is nice and has thge potential to grow big as a view point.
View from lovers meet point
After this view point, we got closer to the river Teesta as we drove.
I am putting photo shots that we took of the river and also views of Sikkim so it gives an idea of the place. Please provide feedback how you liked it.
Another refreshing view of the river
Another mesmerizing view
