Haathi Mahal is one of the high end hotels in South Goa near Cavelossim Beach . We had heard a lot about it. This time of our visit, we stayed in Haathi Mahal. It was forty five minutes to one hour from the airport.
Ambiance
As we got off the cab, big man with big mustaches greeted us. There were two elephant models in silhouetting pose. I could see many plants strategically placed with sitting arrangement. Right opposite to entrance was reception. To the right of this entrance lobby, there were stairs beyond which was arcade housing shops of daily needs, artifacts, gift items, linen and handloom.
In front of lobby was a big swimming pool having permanent stalls of eateries like veg and non veg snacks, juices etc. To the left of this swimming pool was a little pool for kids as well. Area adjoining the back of lobby was art gallery, kids zone, fitness center, play area for adults. As we moved ahead, we saw a statue of Lord Ganesha. Walking ahead, we saw a small pool of Jaccuzzi. Next to Jaccuzzi was another big swimming pool under a little bridge. There was a walkway leading to restaurant both open area and closed. Going right to the restaurant was play zone and recreation section for adults.
On the first floor there were guest rooms which overlooked another building of guest room complex. It was a big hotel having many areas with small small parks, fountain circles to create greenery and freshness in the whole complex.
One more interesting thing at Haathi Mahal was that there were ample shops and food joints around. Also many small vendors had clothes shops. Having close proximity to the arcade was definitely a plus point for this hotel.
Our Experience at Haathi Mahal
Since we were two couples, we got a fully furnished villa having a drawing dining , two bedrooms with one attached and one common bath. The villa was well lit. Since there was fully furnished kitchen, we had no problems in heating and cooking our favourite dishes. Cleaners used to clean the villa everyday to make it sparking clean. In front of our villa was a little verandah at which clothes stand was also present to dry clothes. Since we stayed there for nine days, soon the villa became our comfortable home away from home. We all were super happy to have this ambiance and all comforts in the villa. Every other day, we would go to explore Goa and dine in the restaurant which provided quick and courteous service while being friendly with kids.
In the mornings, we would get ready and lazed around the swimming pool either to have sunbath or to swim. At night after dinner, we would relax there and gaze at the sky lying on the benches. It was such a relaxation.
We also saw art gallery and it was fantastic. Some nice work was displayed out there. The kids zone had lots of kids stuff and they even had a baby sitting arrangement. So, there was no problem at all.
Everyday the hotel would keep a theme. One day we got to enjoy the Rajasthani night at the terrace which was very interesting.
Overall, it was a fantabulous experience at Haathi Mahal. I know people make multiple visits at Goa, staying at Haathi Mahal at least once is an experience in itself. Highly recommended property.
