As soon as I heard about Diwali Mela at new Dilli Haat in Janak Puri, I tied my shoes n headed for it. I saw a big gate. To my surprise, two camels were standing by it. Immediately, I thought of kids.
Then there was a big noise of drums and dholaks. I sneaked further to see dancers dancing to the tune. What a nice welcome I thought!
There were some goverment stalls for education on disaster management at the entrance.
As I headed further, there was a hall. To the right of it was a ticket counter. Upon going further, there were stairs leading to a floor of private stalls selling interesting stuff like bed sheets, towels, suits, Jewellery items, decorative stuff etc.
After seeing stalls, I went down and right to another section where stalls of various parts of India were displaying their specialities like spices, tea gardens, speciality of Kolkata etc.
Next was a chain of stalls selling jewellery, suits cloth- semi stitched or pieces, decorative items, photos etc. I liked the overall ambiance of Delhi Haat Janak Puri.
There was a shop where an aunty was selling cotton suit pieces. It was a small but nice shop. Suits looked creative. I bought one.
Then there was another interesting stall with Diwali items selling diyas, Bandanwars with intricate carvings.
Little distance away, a stage was beautifully decorated with peacocks and jazzy lights. I gazed at it for a while.
There were many stalls in Delhi Haat. Although the place was crowded on 1st floor, but I think it is going to pick up more in coming times.
The first few days of Diwali Mela was by private companies or small businesses.
Diwali Mela starting from 20th October till 22nd October is organized by Government.
