Africa comes alive at Barbeque Nation with ‘Africa Magica’ – the African food festival between April 22 and May 10, 2015 at all 9 outlets of Barbeque Nation in Delhi/NCR. Africa Magica festival offers patrons a chance to experience the magic of the mysterious and feral Africa.
We went for dinner to review Barbeque Nation, Pitampura during the festival of ‘Africa Magica’.
Ambiance of Africa Magica festival
Entrance was all done up with the big standy of Roaring Lion which kids loved at its first sight itself. As we entered the restaurant, it was all pepped up with the theme of African Jungles with leaves hangings all around. Interesting part was that the staff was in Leopard designed shirts along with African Jungle caps to rev kids. It was so fascinating for kids. They were curious and excited at the sight of this happening ambiance that they had n number of questions. Next to sweet dish table was a lion standy puppet. Above buffet table were art work and paintings of zebra, African people walking around.
First few minutes in the restaurant, we realized that we and kids are going to have a gala time.
Food served at Africa Magica
As we settled we were offered mocktails/cocktails , snacks started poring in. Of course, it was sequential along with the grill on table. We tasted Madagascar spiced fish which was amazingly awesome. I just relished it. It had perfect blend of spices, well cooked and juicy.
Moroccan Chicken Saan – Skewer was so mouthwatering. It had boneless Chicken chunks coated with apricot, prunes, dark soy, honey and spices then grilled. This dish was highly delectable. Both me and my husband just loved it.
Peri Peri chicken was my elder son’s favourite. This is the most famous barbequed preparation from Africa’s Mozambique region. Chicken wings in BBQ sauce -Skewers which Marinated chicken wings glazed with BBQ sauce which was delicious as well.
Marrakesh roll (Beetroot, mashed potato, green chili, garlic, ginger, coriander and coated with semolina) was lip smacking as well. Shakalaka Lychee – Skewers (Stuffed lychees coated with lite batter fried and grilled with Shakalaka marination) was a unique dish in itself and was highly innovative and lip smacking. Cajun Spiced potato was something that all four of us liked.
Kuku Paka – (Golden Yellow Mildly spiced east African dish. Chicken cooked in thick coconut gravy) ,Pilaf de Villiers (A Rice pilaf with mushrooms, French beans, carrot, coriander, green peas cooked with hot and spicy green herbs), Mozambique potato casserole (Sliced Mediterranean veggies stewed in a chunky tomato sauce and topped with mashed potatoes. Gratinated under live fire.) was all that we enjoyed.
Desserts
Ice creams, cakes, fruit truffles were irresistible.
