Very few restaurants are there in Delhi/Gurgaon that make you experience nature and food together. Isn’t it? Nowadays, specially, if you find one, you will be its loyal customer. Something like this has happened with me. I have fallen in love with the restaurant- Under The Neem at Karma Chalets, sector 80, Gurugram. This restaurant blends with nature such that you actually talk to nature while savoring food.
I had gone there with my family which includes all ages. There was not only food for all ages, but also activities for all ages!
It is a unique concept for a restaurant to have activities that too for all ages. This is what their USP is all about. What to talk about their USP! You name it and one is better than the other. Food, Ambiance and service. You will love everything there. The menu is a seasonal one. Following a ‘farm to table’ concept, guests can also take a walk around the vegetable garden right next-door to see where the produce comes from.
Ambiance at Under The Neem
Ambiance is such that people who want a quiet and peaceful dining, they can sit inside. The interiors are really nice. There is ample spacing between tables for guests to be able to dine in their own space with adequate privacy.
Furniture and floor match in a way to create a very colourful and vibrant aura. It looks like a blend of an English, Indian traditional and contemporary design.
Guests who have kids running around, making noise and who want to enjoy food with nature, can sit in garden while having meals.
You know what, kids will be taken care of automatically. There are hammocks placed in the garden which kids will enjoy. Naughty kids have slopes designed to do cat walk on and even practice it.
There is a cool swing and sit outs to have private discussions. Others can derive pleasure from sitting in the garden, looking at a variety of flora in the garden and also in the kitchen garden.
Yet others can knit a woolen piece that is kept for whoever is interested in knitting. The blanket is to be made of that which will be donated to the needy. So, so much to do for each age!!
So, while the ambiance keeps you gripped all the time, the food satiates your taste buds.
Food
We had pizzas the first night we dined there. Pizza crust was super thin and crisp. I got reminded of Italian Pizza I had at the airport in Rome. We had ordered Cheese , Cheese corn and Onion, capsicum and mushroom pizzas. All pizzas were delicious. Toppings were ample. There was no space in pizza where I could feel the dirth of toppings. Everyone relished pizzas.
Next afternoon, my elder son ordered Thick Punjabi Lassi. He relished it. It had a flavour of rose water. The lassi was very thick and delicious. It had gur and not sugar. So, the lassi was healthy and nutritious as well.
We had Pind Di Pasand and french fries. Kids loved both. There was a perfect blend of spices in Pind Di Pasand. It was not at all chilly. I too loved its gravy. Paneer pieces were tender , soft and juicy. Breads were good as well.
French fries were crispy and hot. We all relished them.
Service
Service was impeccable. Both during dinner and afternoon, restaurant was packed. Nonetheless, our expectations were set and there was no compromise in food and service at all. We were taken good care of.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience to dine at Under The Neem. A highly recommended restaurant.
