In our visit to Nepal, one of the most important venture was Mountain flight. The mountain flight though expensive was worth the money. In few minutes, we felt as the part of Himalayas. I will write a separate post on this as it deserves. Gauri Shankar in Himalayas is what I want to highlight in this post.
One of the most memorable part apart from Mount Everest ofcourse was the mesmerizing twin holy peaks of Gauri Shankar at 7134 m. They hold a special place in my memorable mountain flight. The glimpse of these holy peaks in Himalyas was so enthralling that I needed to tell all about it in a separate post.
The peaks lie in Nepal Tibet border in Rolwaling Himal range in Himalayas. These holy peaks are next to Choba-Bhamre (5870 m) and just before flattened peak of majestic and spellbinding Melungtse (7182 m) which stood alone and away from it. After Melungtse , Chugimago (6297 m) and Piferago (6620 m) are also seen before the Great Mount Everest.
However , Gauri-Shankar twin peaks had an amazing view since it was very different from all other peaks. It is unique as it is filled by clouds at most of the times , which create a spectacular view. When clouds come out of these peaks, it becomes a moment of eternal bliss for me. It actually reminded me of Lord Shiva with holy ganga flowing out of his hair.
This heavenly moment is etched in my memory forever now and will always be a special moment in my life.
Just to have a glimpse of these mountains was a lifetime achievement award for me as a travel enthusiast.
I would recommend all to definitely take a mountain flight in Nepal and keenly observe Gauri Shankar twin peaks.
Did you know?
- Twin peaks have two summits Northern (higher) called as Shankar and Southern summit called as Gauri. Owing to steep surfaces and long corniced ridges these peaks are tough to climb.
- Gauri Shankar peaks have deep religious significance for Hindus and Buddhist Rolwaling Sherpas
